The Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) provides up to $5,000 in point-of-sale rebates for zero-emission vehicles. Making sustainable transport accessible for every Canadian.
EVAP incentives are determined by the vehicle's powertrain and battery capacity. Rebates will gradually decrease annually until 2031.
Includes fully electric vehicles and Hydrogen Fuel Cell (FCEV) models with zero tailpipe emissions.
Applies to vehicles combining internal combustion engines with plug-in rechargeable batteries.
The 2026 program introduces new standards to ensure affordability and support domestic production.
Vehicles must have a final transaction value (including fees/options) of $50,000 or less.
Exception: Canadian-made EVs are exempt from this cap.
Must be built in Canada or a country with a Canadian Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Vehicles built in China are currently excluded from EVAP.
Rebates apply to new vehicles. Demo vehicles qualify if the odometer is under 10,000 km and the vehicle was never previously registered.
Full rebate for 48-month leases. 12-month leases receive 25%, 24-month receive 50%, and 36-month receive 75%.
Calculate your potential EVAP rebate based on 2026 rates.
Incentives are designed to encourage early adoption and will decrease annually.
Alongside rebates, the Government of Canada is investing $1.5 billion into the Charging and Hydrogen Refueling Infrastructure Initiative to add 8,000+ new stations coast-to-coast.
